Peggy Guggenheim, born in 1898 in NYC, was an American art collector, bohemian and socialite. She created a noted art collection in Europe and America and settled in Venice, Italy, where she lived and exhibited her collection. The pattern on the cap is inspired by her passion for zebra fur - she had zebra fur element in every room, such as sofa with zebra print. The wire- pattern on barrel is inspired by the entrance gates to the Guggenheim Collection, an artwork made of iron wires from Claire Falkenstein. The straight shape of the cap, barrel and clip is connected to the art deco period. The clip with lion head inspired by the " Palazzo Venier dei Leoni", Peggy´s former home, that is decorated with lion heads - the symbol of the city of Venice, also prominent on the Upper East Side in NY where she grew up. The cone refers to the red and white striped Venice pillars. The pattern on capring reminds of graphic detail of the palazzo. The marbled Montblanc emblem reminds of the shape and surface of the palace. The Patron of Art Peggy Guggenheim Edition is limited to 81 pieces in reference to her age (1898 - 1979).
