Every striking detail of the cap and the clip corresponds to Leonardo’s technical inventions powered by gear drives, while the engravings on the forepart and the Au 750 gold nib are reminiscent of sketches of the invention of his flying machine. Leonardo’s studies on the reflection of convex surfaces are literally mirrored in the cap top which shows the Montblanc emblem in a hidden mirror.
