As a tribute to India’s rich decoration techniques, Montblanc created the High Artistry Celebration of the Taj Mahal Limited Edition 10, made from Au 750 solid champagne-tone gold. Delicate rhomboid and triangular decorations adorn the cap, cap top and barrel of this edition with artistic granulation work. The central cupola of the Taj Mahal was the inspiration for the domed shape of the Au 750 solid gold cap top, which is crowned by a splendid yellow sapphire.
In reference to the legendary Peacock Throne, the edition is decorated with a stylised peacock feather with a malachite cabochon in the middle.
The engraving of two love birds on the Au 750 solid gold nib is an homage to the great love between Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal – here united symbolically for eternity. The birds are framed by a typical Taj Mahal decoration of tendrils, which continue in a fine engraving on the forepart.
