Life without art was unimaginable for Henry Moore. His creative drive was insatiable and tireless –
even up to his death at the age of 88. Moore left behind an immense body of work encompassing over 15,000 pieces from the smallest sketch to the great plastics. Henry Moore pioneered the use of holes in
sculpture as well as adding a second inner form in relation to a larger form which dominates the design of the Edition. The skilfully skeletonized Cap and Body allow the look in the inside of the fountain pen through ‘holes’. The natural state of the material he used also had a great influence on his artistic inspiration, thus the surface is treated gently roughened. One of Henry Moore’s visual trademarks is a melting of abstract organic forms with elementsof the human body, thus the clip bears a visible reference to the small though significant work ‘Reclining figure: snake’ The cap top was also inspired by undulating forms, so that the crowning Montblanc diamond follows the asymmetric curving of the cap top. In token of Moore’s membership in the artists group The Seven and Five Society, consisting of seven painters and 5 sculptures, the limitation is 5 pieces only. The nib is enriched with a fine engraving of a pair of hands inspired by the illustrations Moore made of hands.
