His boundless passion for exploring led diplomat and archaeologist Max von Oppenheim to discover the remains of a long-lost, advanced civilisation at the ancient settlement of Tell Halaf in northern Syria in 1899 – and go on to become one of the most important archaeologists of the 20th century. The Limited Edition Max von Oppenheim symbolises all the fascination of the Orient, which captivated von Oppenheim from his youth. The unique design of the writing instrument made of Ag 925 sterling silver is inspired by the domes of the mosques of the East. Cap and cone are decorated with pale-grey translucent lacquer inlays. The finely engraved Bedouin motif on the rhodium-coated Au 750 solid gold nib recalls von Oppenheim’s passion for the tribes of the Arab world.
