The splendid gold-coated barrel and mountings of Edition 4810 represent the luxury of court life at Versailles. The cap, made of fine Meissen porcelain and decorated with a hand-painted, sepia-coloured rose finished in gold, recalls the Marquise’s love of porcelain. As a tribute to the age in which she lived, the Au 750 solid gold nib is decorated by a delicate engraving typical of the rococo style.
