Johannes Kepler (December 27, 1571 – November 15, 1630) was a German mathematician, astronomer, and astrologer. The overall design and shape is inspired by the Keplerian astronomical telescope. The stone-setting is inspired by Kepler´s astronomical observations in his book De Stella Nova about the Supernova 1604. The moon phase movement at cap top is inspired by the original drawing of the moon in Kepler´s book "Epitome Astronomiae Copernicanae (published in the period 1617 to 1621)". The design of cone is paying tribute to another pioneering discovery of him Kepler´s laws of planetary motion and Kepler´s Platonic solid model of the Solar system from Mysterium Cosmographicum (1596). The engraving on the Forepart, cap top and the cone are also inspired by his drawing from Mysterium Cosmographicum (1596). The nib is enriched with a fine engraving inspired by his drawing of the sun.
